About Waxing
Women find that silky, smooth, waxed skin is easier to maintain and is more comfortable than shaving. Waxing also lasts longer than shaving and you don't have to deal with unsightly razor stubble. Waxing helps keep you fresh & clean!
How Long Should I Let My Hair Grow?
Hair must be 1/4 inch or longer to be waxed. Please do not shave or trim hair prior to your waxing appointment.
Will My Hair Grow Back Thicker?
Absolutely not. Your hair will grow back thinner and softer. Sometimes people experience that hair growth has either slowed down or stopped altogether.
Will It Be Painful?
Well this depends on the individual. The anxiety you experience is usually worse than the actual waxing. Don't worry I'll take good care of you.
How Long Will The Results Last?
Although everyone's hair growth is different, on average a body or bikini waxing lasts anywhere from 2-6 weeks. The more you wax - the longer it lasts.
What Kind Of Wax Do You Use?
'
I use an imported hard (stripless) wax that "shrink wraps" the hair so that removal is very gentle to the skin. I use the hard wax on all sensitive areas of the body and a strip wax is used on all larger areas of the body. A new spatula stick is used for every application.
I NEVER EVER...DOUBLE DIP.
I'm Embarrassed......
Please don't be. I have clients of all shapes and sizes. I take client confidentiality very seriously.
Before & After Waxing
Before Waxing:
- Let hair grow out to at least 1/4 inch long. Do not trim.
- Exfoliate the areas that will be waxed a day before your appointment.
- Let your Esthetician know of any medications you are taking.
- If you shaved recently please allow at least 3 weeks of hair growth before your first
scheduled appointment.
- Do not tan on the week of your waxing appointment (sunless or outdoors).
- If you are on your menstrual cycle, please wear a tampon. You will also be more sensitive to
waxing. Waiting a few days after your cycle may be best.
- You may want to take Advil or Ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment (good anti-
inflammatory effects).
- Please be clean before you come in for your waxing appointment.
After Waxing:
- Do not tan (sunless or outdoors) for at least 24 hours after your waxing service.
- Do not go swimming in the ocean, pool, or hot tub for at least 24 hours. Your pores are still open
and it could attract bacteria which could lead to an infection.
- Do not wear tight underwear, jeans or other tight clothing.
- Apply cold compresses to the area if necessary to ease the pain.
- Do not "pick" or try to get out an ingrown hair. Try to manually exfoliate the area or use a
cream/gel that contains Glycolic or Salicylic acid on the area.
- Do not take a hot bath or shower. Warm to cool temperatures are recommended for the next 24
hours.
- Refrain from any activity that will cause perspiration or rubbing that will irritate the area.
- After a couple of days you can begin to lightly exfoliate the area.
EXFOLIATE - EXFOLIATE - EXFOLIATE this will be the best way to help rid dead skin layers and
help the hair grow properly out of the follicle.
